AE Component of the the Month for May - Lesley Watt

Time for another Component of the Month - this time Lesley sent us these awesome shell cabs/pendants.  I chose a cabochon, I just can't get enough of them!

The cabochon is somewhat shallow, so I didn't bead bezel it, I glued it down really well and started beading around it. I wanted to invoke the feeling of the ocean, but underneath where there's movement but it's gentle and flowing!

I used colors that were found in the colors of the cabochon, and then added "tentacles" of size 15 seed beads and then size 11 seed beads - kind of an anemone look.

I used some awesome O-beads that I had picked up in Texas last year - they are sparkly and AB/mirror like - perfect for under water!

Right now I'm not sure what it wants to be so I'm going to leave it like this for a while.  I was thinking either necklace or pin - but maybe it wants to be part of some kind of sea piece wall art? Not sure yet.

Please check out what everyone else made, and thanks to Lesley for providing such great inspiration!

Sue I just love this! It really does evoke a sense of something sitting at the bottom of a tide pool with gently waving fronds and the colours/textures are just gorgeous! Thanks for taking part.

Sue, this is gorgeous! The beading is perfect and really evokes an underwater scene.
Love all the movement it creates around the cabochon. It makes the cabochon really stand out. It would be a beautiful necklace or brooch or even a large cuff bracelet. Whatever you decide it will be beautiful.

Gorgeous choice of beads Sue, it reminds me of zooanthids with their iridescent tentacles.

Oh! That ring of the darker bronze to accentuate the glaze speckles! The tentacles! I love every bit of it.

I absolutely adore where you're going with this piece so far! The colors are just perfect and it definitely evokes a feeling of being under the sea. I hope you'll share once it decides what it wants to be when it grows up!

Love it Sue! It looks like a sea anemone and a tide pool surrounded by seaweed. The tentacles add the perfect texture to frame the cab.

Really beautiful Sue. What Lindsay said - very naturalistic ocean creature feel to it.

It's so lovely, Sue! You got some gorgeous colors to play with. One day I'm going to learn to do that!
