Saturday Sequins Blog Hop!

Sarah, from Saturday Sequins, is holding a blog hop today!  Our challenge was to make something from sequins!  At first it sounded really easy, so I said yes!  Then I decided it's not so easy - I'm not a sewing kind of girl so creating something like Sarah makes would be out of the question!  She makes amazing things!  But I got the idea in my head to make earrings!  I bought some chain, and about 100 4mm jump rings, and had the cones and the black seed beads!  I needed sequins!  I bought some really really nice vintage French sequins from A Grain of Sand - she has some great vintage things in her store, you should take a look!  I bought pearl white, ivory and black.  I had plans on making something else, as well, but you'll have to do with the earrings, because that's all I got accomplished.  I'm getting ready for the big Delmont Apple N Arts Festival next weekend, so that is really taking all my time!  By the way, if you are from around here, you should try to make it out to Delmont, it's a lot of fun!

So here are my earrings!  They were very tedious!  Putting the sequin on the jump ring, then putting the jump ring on the chain, with the chain already attached to the eye pin, was a challenge!  But I think the only way I could have got it done!  They were fun to make, and when I have time, I'll make the other item that I have in my head, and then I'll show it to you as well!  Although who really knows when that will be :)

Another view of the earrings!

Please take some time to visit with everyone else who made something with sequins this weekend!  I'm sure you're going to find some amazing things!

Scuba!

There was no Sunday post yesterday because we were up and at 'em early; my daughter was starting her checkout dives for scuba! It was a beautiful beginning to the day, and we drove the hour north to Volant, PA, to Strawberry Quarry!
Here's Hannah getting her bc ready.

Here she is getting all outfitted and finally getting into the water!
She had a great day, and the pouring rain held off until they got out of the water! She'll have to go back one more time, for 2 dives, then she'll be certified!

They Arrived!

Remember in my Challenge of Travel post, I mentioned that what I had ordered from Japan did not arrive in time to make my planned project? Well, they came!  They arrived on Wednesday!  Can you tell from this first photo what they are?
Probably not, I did that on purpose!  But can you tell from this second photo what they are?
They look like bezels.  That's what I thought when I saw them!  They are actually vintage Japanese door pull handles!  I found them at VintageFromJapan on etsy.  I hope to be able to get to them soon, and I'll be sure to show you what I make!

Patti and the Bracelets!

Patti Vanderbloemen, of My Addictions, was asked by 7000 Bracelets to donate a bracelet for their gala happening this month.(If you don't know about Global Genes or 7000 Bracelets, click the above link to learn!).  Patti, in the ultimate act of generosity, decided to doate 75 bracelets instead!  And she asked ME to make a huge amount of beads for her to use in her bracelets!  She's just the most wonderfully generous person, I had to share some of the designs she made!  You can see more on her blog - she's doing a series of posts to show you what she made!  Please check them out, and give her some love!

This Bead...

I just thought I'd show you a photo of this bead, and what I made with it! I actually made it quite a while ago!  I forgot all about it.
Then, the other day, my mom had it on!  When I saw it I said, Oh, I love that bead!
I totally forgot what I made you with it!  I think I'll have to make some more of these!
So, sometime soon, look for some more of these cheery beads!

More Bead Fest Loot!

Some more of my trades and/or purchases!

Traded eggs for these with Jan Onipenco, one of the East Coast Bead Mafia girls!  Her store is Molten Mayhem on etsy and she makes amazing seascape beads!

Traded enamel leaves with Amy of Xaz Beads from Utah - this raku is amazing!

Visited the Ornamentea booth and saw Elaine Ray!  She's a wonderful woman and I got these great beads while I was chatting with her!

My booth buddies to my left were the girls behind Banyan Bay Studio in Miami.  They were incredibly nice and funny!  We had a blast with them!  These beads are made from wood!  It's pressed, colored, and hand-shaped by Katherine Worthington!  She was at Bead and Button and you may see her again this year!  Her web site is under construction right now, but if you want to get some for yourself, you can email them at BanyanBayStudio@gmail.com and please tell her I sent you!

Finally, I got some of these sea urchin spines from Theodora's.  Miss Stacy Louise was the one who introduced them to me!  I have plans to make small window wind chimes from these and some of my large focal beads!  I love the tinkly noise they make!  LOL!

September Component of the Month - Zombee with Laney Mead

This month it was Laney's turn to provide the Component of the Month, and she made these cute little Zombees!  I did not take a photo ...
